Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, Jacob!

I love this little man with all of my heart. Not a day goes by that he doesn't make me laugh. He is the perfect balance to all of the "girl" emotions that reside in our home.

SEVEN THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT JAKE:

~I love that Jacob loves to laugh.
~I love that Jacob is sensitive to other people's feelings.
~I love that Jacob loves his sisters.
~I love that Jacob sincerely wants to be good, and he prays that he will choose the right.
~I love that Jacob is brave enough to trust me when he is afraid.
~I love that Jacob loves the scriptures.
~I love that Jacob loves school, and that he thinks very highly of his abilities.

We spent part of Jacob's birthday in Boise while we waited for Amber to finish with a gymnastics meet. We then headed to the cabin with our good friends to celebrate.

I love birthdays, and I love to do special things to celebrate. Jacob had mentioned that he wanted breakfast in bed on his birthday, and I was happy to oblige; however, he was so tired that he couldn't open his eyes in order to eat.

Its tradition to pop balloons with special notes of love. Jacob wanted to use his new weapon for the task.

 CHICK-FIL-A
Hailey wanted to know if Chick-Fil-A sang to people on their birthday, so as soon as a hostess walked by, she asked. The hostess' response cracked me up! With a slight question in her voice she replied, "We can." Obviously it wasn't something they traditionally did. She then left to gather a team of singers! When they came, they rang a cow bell and announced to the restaurant that here was a birthday in the house. As they sang, they presented Jake with a stuffed cow, and an ice cream sundae. Not only did they sing, but they went above and beyond to make Jake's day special. It was so sweet!

Before heading to the cabin, we ate lunch at Chick-Fil-A.

 CABIN
The snow was really heavy and wet, so while we were playing it was soaking through our clothes. At one point, Jake was feeling done; however, he quickly changed his mind when I mentioned that I needed another beautiful picture of him. Immediately he decided to climb on the tube with Bryan all for the name of a good picture. When he mentioned to Bryan he was wet, Bryan told him he could go inside to which he replied, "But mom needs to get another picture of me." He cracks me up! What a ham!

The Pruett's came to the cabin with us to celebrate. We are so grateful for good friends!

Here's the good picture I promised Jake when he was wet and cold!

Bryan's Birthday Present A Reality

FAMILY SKI TRIP

We had tons of fun skiing Saturday night! It was our kid's first time skiing! Other than Jake giving me a few heart attacks, it was a success! After watching the Olympics, he thinks he is a professional skier and has no need for brakes. He would simply point his ski's downhill and go until he fell. At the end of the hill (when he made it that far), he would throw his hands in the air and yelled, "Gold Medal!" We went down one steep hill, and Bryan basically carried Jacob down that hill, so that he didn't kill himself with his lack of inhibition. They are already asking when they can go again.

Happy Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRYAN!

My dear sweet husband never does anything for himself. We, the children and I, wanted to surprise him with a gift he has always wanted, but would never do because of the cost. We gathered all of our resources, and gave him a family ski trip to Bogus Basin. Bryan loves to ski, but he just hasn't for quite some time--partly because of family life, and partly because of finances. We are all so excited for this special birthday gift!

We love our daddy and husband so much! Here are a few of thing things we love about him:
I love that he thinks of other people first. ~Hailey
I love that he is forgiving all of the time. ~Hailey
I love that daddy is funny and always wants to have fun with me. ~Amber
I love that daddy is kind to everyone. ~ Amber
I love that dad is so nice. ~Jacob
I love that he does good stuff. ~Jacob
You make me feel like a princess, and you are a great daddy to our children! ~Carrie
I love that we are partners in family, in money, and in parenting. ~Carrie
I love that you work hard to fulfill your calling, and that you seek inspiration for that calling. ~Carrie
I love that you are diligent at reading your scriptures and praying. ~Carrie
A bonus (I couldn't stop…I shared too many with the kids): I love that you provide for our family, you hold the priesthood with honor, you put God first, you have a testimony, you have your sights set on eternity, you do the laundry, you smile at me, you play with the kids, you support my silly traditions, you listen to my concerns…even when you are busy at work, and that you are my best friend…

As with tradition, I did another countdown to Bryan's birthday.

As part of Bryan's countdown, he received 7 fortune cookies with fortunes:

*Through study and prayer you will someday be crowned with ETERNAL LIFE.
*Every day you kiss your wife—will be a better day for the both of you.
*You will never regret spending time with your family.
*As you turn to the Lord in prayer, He will magnify you in your calling J.
*Telling your wife that you love her and that she is beautiful may bring you blessings.
*You kids will sing to you in the near future.
*Your wife will surprise you in some way.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, Amber!

Amber's one birthday wish was to go to the cabin with a friend. We don't really "do" sleepovers; however, we consented to a cabin trip sleepover...on several conditions... When we arrived at the cabin, there was deep snow everywhere. While standing, the snow hit me at my waist. Because it was so light and fluffy, we could run through it. It almost felt as if we were swimming through snow. We had a fantastic day, and we were so glad that Brooklyn Lowry and her sister, Kortlyn, could come with us!

I absolutely love birthdays, but I hate that with each birthday, my children get a year older. This birthday was no different. I can't believe my little girl is now 10. Time flies too quickly. I wish I could bottle up every special day and relive them over and over again. I am so grateful for Amber in my life. She is a treasure. She will hold my heart always and forever.
10 Things I love About Amber:
~I love that Amber finds joy in her everyday life. Amber’s nickname could be smiley, because a smile is her most common expression.
~Amber’s joy is contagious. I often find myself smiling in her presence.
~Amber is a hard worker. She is determined. If she sets her mind to something, she always seems to get it done.
~Amber is spiritual. She studies her scriptures every morning, and she blesses us with her knowledge.
~Amber is a good friend. She is conscientious of those around her. She wants to help the “underdog” whenever possible.
~Amber loves the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She has a strong testimony, and she shares it often.
~Amber is kind to her siblings. She is a friend to both her sister and her brother. She thinks of their feelings above her own.
~Amber is a goal setter. If she feels she needs to improve in some area, she will write it on a note where she can view it, and then continue to work at it until she has accomplished her goal.
~I love Amber’s hugs, and I love that she shares them with me often.
~ I love Amber’s spunky personality. She is witty. She is carefree. She is genuine.
I just love my little girl!! Happy Birthday, Amber!

Amber's birthday began in our own home.

Making a trail for sledding was a momentousness task, but totally worth it!
