Girl's Camp; August 4

Girl’s Camp 2016
Our theme this year was Anchored In Christ. We wanted the girls to feel the strength of Christ in their lives. We centered our activities focusing on Christ being an intricate part of every aspect. My favorite part of girl’s camp was the Faith Walk. We had the girl’s blindfolded as they followed a rope towards an end destination. Each girl also had a bag full of rocks they carried along the path. The rocks represented any trial they had in their life that they felt they had to carry. WE had leaders along the path to help the girls along. The leaders were meant to represent the “life jackets” in our lives from Elder Ballard’s talk, “Stay in the Boat”. Each girl left the beginning location one at a time. The girls waiting to leave sang songs with the bishop. When the blindfolded girls arrived at the end of the course, there was a picture of Christ in a spotlight and music was playing. Each girl received a letter from a parent as well—they were given this letter as they entered the clearing. When they took off their blindfolds to see Christ, they then were able to cast their rocks (their burdens) at his feet. I love the symbolism from this activity. The idea that we must cast our burdens on the Savior is something I think we all need to continually be reminded of and encouraged to do.

Tight Rope

Teepee Shuffle
We had challenge activities for the girls to complete. The purpose was to build team unity and to focus a principle on the Savior.

The Spider Web
Each girl had to pass through the holes without touching the webbing. If they touched the webbing, they had to choose a different hole. The girls had to work together to not use too many holes, and to get every single girl through the webbing.
